Head – Taxation
To lead the organization’s work on taxation—both direct and indirect—by developing and executing a strategic policy agenda on tax reforms, engaging with key government stakeholders, and supporting member companies on issues related to tax administration and compliance. The incumbent will guide advocacy efforts across corporate tax, GST, customs, and other fiscal domains, ensuring effective coordination with the Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue, CBIC, CBDT, and GST Council. The role also includes financial and operational oversight of the Taxation vertical.
Key Responsibilities
1. Policy Development & Advocacy
- Formulate comprehensive industry positions on direct tax (corporate tax, capital gains, international taxation) and indirect tax (GST, customs, excise).
- Drive advocacy and consultations with the Department of Revenue, CBIC, CBDT, and GST Council.
- Lead the preparation of Pre-Budget Memoranda and Post-Budget analyses in coordination with member companies.
- Write policy papers, articles, and white papers to position the organization as a thought leader in tax policy discourse.
2. Research & Analysis
- Oversee research on emerging tax issues, double taxation avoidance, tax certainty, and simplification initiatives.
- Track developments in global tax frameworks (OECD, Pillar 1 & 2, transfer pricing) and assess their implications for Indian industry.
3. Member Engagement
- Manage the National Committee on Taxation; organize consultations, expert sessions, and forums to gather member perspectives.
- Facilitate structured engagement between industry and government to resolve tax-related issues and shape reform proposals.
4. Operational & Financial Oversight
- Manage team operations, budgeting, and financial performance of the vertical.
- Ensure timely delivery of high-quality policy outputs, advocacy materials, and compliance with budgetary norms.
Qualifications
- Preferred: Chartered Accountant (CA).
- Desirable: Additional qualification in Law, Economics, or Public Policy.
- Experience: 18–20 years in taxation, with experience in government departments (Revenue/Finance Ministries), corporate tax divisions, consulting firms, or industry associations.
